ROOTBOT: premium subscription launch

2 min read

On 8–9 December 2023 the ROOTWIN team added a premium subscription to Ban_Root_bot — a set of exclusive features available for a one-time contribution to the project.

How it works

Premium isn’t a recurring payment. It’s a one-time donation starting from 200 rubles, after which access stays with the user permanently. The idea was simple: give people who support the bot something genuinely useful, not just a badge on their profile.

What premium included

The first and most visible feature was a built-in file-sharing tool: premium users could upload files directly through the bot, get a download link, and manage their uploads from a dedicated panel. The per-file limit was 10 MB, with total storage planned to expand as project support grew.

Beyond file sharing, the exclusive command set included:

  • message encryption and decryption (/encrypt, /decrypt);
  • looking up ban-list entries and user info by ID;
  • changing your nickname in the bot;
  • adding a link to your own chat in the top list;
  • anonymous messages between users.

The list was announced as open from the start — the team collected suggestions from the community and promised to keep expanding premium with new features.

Why the bot needed this

Before this update, ROOTBOT had already moved from a game economy toward moderation and anti-spam. Premium was the next logical step — a way to fund the bot’s infrastructure (servers, storage) without going back to the casino-style game mechanics the team had deliberately dropped a year earlier.
