ROOTWIN Search
ROOTWIN Search was an experimental engine at rootwin.ga (spring 2022). The brief was privacy-minded search and a custom web UI, meant to pair with a Chromium client. It never became a commercial search product. It did teach hosting, indexing basics, and the 2026 idea that ROOTWIN needs its own web floor.
ROOTWIN Search (rootwin.ga) was a spring 2022 prototype: what would a search box look like if we owned the page and did not keep a query history? It was research more than a Google competitor — indexing, a web UI, hosting, and how a search product might talk to a custom browser.
The prototype did not grow into a large public search engine. It did plant the sentence that came back in March 2026: ROOTWIN needs independent web services, not only bots on someone else’s platform.
